Free Texture Pack: Lights

Inspired by this Wired How-To guide on camera toss photos, and it being that time of year with the Christmas tree all decorated with lights, I thought it would be fun to experiment with the idea, and also make some cool textures for backgrounds for holiday cards or wallpapers. Such is the story behind this texture pack, which isn’t really a texture pack because light isn’t texture, but we’ll call it one for convenience. We took 50 shots at different exposures, some with more ambient light and some in the dark, and trying a variety of different techniques for capturing light trails. Since there were so many shots, we’ve decided to split this pack up into 2 pieces, and we’ll post the second half next week, as well as an archive containing all 50 on Christmas morning. Why do it like this? Well, we figure, for the people who are going to use the textures for something holiday-themed this year, we’ll give it to you a little bit early so you have time to do whatever it is you’re going to do. If you can stand to wait, you’ll wake up Christmas morning and have a little present waiting for you to open from Arcane Palette.
