The third LP by Seattle band Harvey Danger was produced by John Goodmanson and Steve Fiskwhose combined credits include dozens of essential records by bands as varied as Sleater-Kinney, Beat Happening, Low, Screaming Trees, Blonde Redhead, and NirvanaLittle By Little is the sound of a radically transformed group. It may be tempting to read Little By Little as the culmination of a 10-year career spent pursuing music at every level of endeavor, from basement band you never heard of to overnight success you cant escape to has-beens you wonder whatever became of to out-of-left-field comeback. The reality, however, is that its just 10 songs written by three guys who decided they wanted to make a record again. However you choose to perceive it, its safe to say that this LP represents a singular musical voice, and that Harvey Danger is firing on all pistons

they released this on the net a while ago and since i found it, i’ve wanted to own it. i’m happy they found a home on KRS. this album is great, like all their albums, and i’m way excited about the bonus disk.

The prospect of a new studio album from the New York Dolls in the year 2006 is a strange and puzzling thing, especially without the presence of Johnny Thunders, Arthur Kane, and Jerry Nolan, all of whom are currently gigging on another astral plane. But after the Dolls made an unexpected and surprisingly convincing return to the concert stage in 2004, David Johansen, Sylvain Sylvain, and their newly appointed partners started writing new material and took the risky step of taking the new band into the studio a mere 32 years after Too Much Too Soon. On One Day It Will Please Us to Remember Even This, the New York Dolls are a far cry from the band that recorded “Personality Crisis” in 1972, but the album offers a reasonable approximation of the Dolls as smart, battle-hardened survivors who’ve got something to say and have a few laughs while saying it.

i discovered Jurassic 5 the back way, via their DJ Cut Chemist. plus, i’ve been hearing about them for a long time. so i d/l’d what i didn’t even realize was a pre-release of this album and it’s pretty decent. not like Cut Chemist’s solo stuff, but interesting, innovative hip-hop.
