  • Musicthis is where i stash my music stuff.  check the dropdown or the sidebar for the projects i’ve uploaded so far.  i’ve got a lot to upload, so this section will be added to a lot until i’ve got everything posted. all music downloads are now, and will always be, completely free, released under a creative commons, attribution, non-commercial, share-alike license.  physical copies can be procured, contact me via one of the various social networks at the top and on the about page if you’re interested, or purchase a copy from my bandcamp page if you’re interested. there’s more to post, but what i’ve got up for your listening pleasure at the moment includes: jazzsequence — the moniker i’m currently releasing music under.  as of february 2010, i have two jazzsequence releases, both available on bandcamp: s3quence and you’ll have to wait for the book. gwoździec — an experiment in randomly generated, fully creative commons-licensed music.  read about the process here and download the full album on bandcamp. the loafmen — an improvisational, experimental rock band.  our full discography and brief bio available here. c.s.reynolds — largely experimental compositions exploring sound collage and ambience.  albums available to download here include eXperimenTs and  Urban…

    • blind chaosfor 2010′s rpm challenge, i wanted to see if anyone was planning on doing another “blind chaos” project.  blind chaos got started in 2009 and the premise was to record roughly 35 minutes of whatever, ideally leaving gaps and pauses and spaces for other instruments, and then someone would, at the end, mash them all together and submit it to rpm. little did i know that i would end up being the mixer and producer of this year’s blind chaos. being at the helm and having not actually submitted a track was an educational experience.  i’d never really mixed before, not as a live twiddling with levels and effects and stuff, and it was amazing to me how the tracks flowed into each other naturally, so that i really didn’t need to push anything that hard — i just needed to let the music and the emerging counterpoints do their thing. blind chaos 2010 final cover art with updated title and contributor listings after February was over, there were still some folks who hadn’t been able to participate.  i remembered how that felt, and thinking that just because it wasn’t February shouldn’t mean that we couldn’t…

  • Abouti’m a 31 yr. old (eek!) male, happily married with one son, gavin, and one daughter, lilah. with erin , i started arcane palette creative design — a web design studio hell-bent on spreading awesome, artistic design to the masses. i get my rocks off from technology, hacking html and css, watching (good) anime (like, say, trigun, neon genesis evangelion, his and her circumstances, lain), making/listening to music, and being generally a nrrd. having worked in the specialty department at whole foods for about a year, i’m a bit of a food snob, and my favorite cheeses are cambozola, dubliner with stout, cowgirl creamery’s mt tam, and humbolt fog i like amano chocolate, fran’s salt caramels and truffles and bissinger’s chocolate barks.  curry puffs (especially from Sawadee Thai Restaurant) are like thai food heaven.  i also like vietnamese food and sushi.  my musical tastes are eclectic, but you can’t go wrong with some saul williams or nine inch nails.  you can check me out on last.fm or the arcane palette page on blip.fm to see what i’m listening to. right now i’m playing a lot of borderlands, but i also play a lot of guild wars and classics like civ 3 and heroes of might and magic 3.  i recently started a tumblog…

  • World War II Propaganda (as Art?)

This is a guest post by Chris Reynolds. If you would like to guest post on 10 Times One please click here. Propaganda is to art as Twitter is to literature; concise, quick, bold, direct.  The message is put across as simply as possible using often using whatever means necessary.  Guilt, fear, threats, idealism, utopianism,… (read…

  • Free Texture Pack: Miscellaneous Textures 2

This texture pack is a hodge-podge of random objects and textures that have the common theme that they were all taken from an old house.  Screens, mesh, old fabric, vintage wallpapers and retro-tastic heating vents to add to your collection.  All images were taken at 2272×1704, large enough to do pretty much whatever you want.…

  • amnesty international: death to the death penalty

This new Amnesty International ad is gorgeous and inspired.  Gets the message across while being appropriately eerie and unsettling.  Which, given the subject matter, it should be. The folks who did this ad also did this crazy dog short (also awesome): “birds” (pleix) from pleix on Vimeo.

  • oil spill…but not in the gulf of mexico

Look familiar? While this looks like it might be a bird that got it easy in the gulf oil spill, or maybe just got lucky (at least compared to these poor animals), this duck, in fact, lives no where near Louisiana.  Instead, it was living right where I live. You know things are bad when you can…

  • Shrinks Diagnose Darth Vader’s Inner Demons

As much as I love a good romp down Let’s Psychoanalyze Fictional Characters Lane, can I just point out the incredible waste of resources in a team of psychiatrists (that’s right, not just a guy, or some friends at the bar, or even a single, Star Wars-obsessed psych student) diagnosing Darth Vader with borderline personality…

  • Humble Oil (now Exxon) Predicts the Future in 1962 Ad

“EACH DAY HUMBLE SUPPLIES ENOUGH ENERGY TO MELT 7 MILLION TONS OF GLACIER!” “This giant glacier has remained unmelted for centuries. Yet, the petroleum energy Humble supplies – if converted into heat – could melt it at the rate of 80 tons each second! To meet the nation’s growing needs for energy, Humble has supplied…
